Roots and Wings in a shared Social Dream Matrix \ Gila Ofer and Yona Weiss
Social Dream Matrix is a method of working with dreams that are shared within a gathering of people. The sharing brings about association and thus the dreamer gives voice to the dream that is in him or her but not just of him or her. Participants are invited to share the dreams they had on previous nights or weeks. Meanwhile everyone is encouraged to provide associations to these dreams. This will allow the dreams to sail throughout the room seeking resonance. We can than witness how dreams create images which reveal something about the social processes. The idea is not to claim ownership of the dream, but to let it make its own way, meeting other dreams and the associations of the other participants (Lawrence, 1998).
In the matrix, (group meeting) each morning we will have space for exploring our dreams together and sharing associations to our dreams. We will have a shared time and space for reverie reflecting our experiences in the conference and in our society. Our shared dreams will help us to understand our roots and wings which will enable us to explore the enigmatic meanings unfolding through our conscious and unconscious.
