Putting the pieces together, relaxing and grounding with art before night sleep \ Dafna Hirchmann
In this night workshop we will make a relaxing closure to the day. We will use art, music and guided Imagery to connect to ourselves.
Collage is an artistic media that uses newspaper pieces to create a two-dimensional picture.
Like dreams, collage work makes a connection between the external world and the inner world, between the personal and social, between imagination and reality. Collage art work enables emotional expression for a wide range of people, including those who feel limited in their art's abilities (Landgarten, 1993).
The foundational matrix, a concept coined by Foulkes, is the biological, historical, social, and cultural substrate of human existence (Foulkes, 1990). The written press is interwoven with the base of the foundational matrix and has been historically the backbone of social communication. The contents of the society are expressed in the press through symbols, words or pictures.
The use of newspaper media in art reflects the connection to society – the roots - on the one hand, and the freedom to make personal artistic use of the society materials – the wings - on the other hand.
The workshop will include practical experience in preparing individual and group collage works and a shared circle. The stage of observation, and the conceptualization will be done in group discourse in the spirit of group analysis.
